VICTORIA, Seychelles — Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde undertook his first ministerial visit of the year to the Baie Lazare and Anse à la Mouche region, focusing exclusively on cultural tourism activities. The visit was part of the Tourism ministry’s ongoing efforts to broaden the experiences offered to visitors and promote sustainable tourism that highlights the essence of Seychelles through cultural immersion.
Compared to last year, when his focus was mainly on tourism establishments, this year the minister wanted to look at the products that currently offer cultural tourism or have the potential to do so. The ministerial delegation visited four small local businesses and cultural tourism initiatives, observing significant potential for growth in the sector. The Creole Rendez-Vous initiative aims to provide tourists with an authentic, in-depth experience of Seychellois culture, heritage and natural beauty.
The initiative emphasises eco-tourism, community engagement, and showcasing local crafts, performing arts and cuisine. Its goal is to support local artisans, artists and entrepreneurs, while giving visitors an insider’s perspective of island life.
