Education Ministry Reports Slight Improvement in 2024 P6, IGCSE and A-Level Results

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Ministry of Education has shared the analysis of the Primary Six National Exams, IGCSE and A-Level results, noting a slight improvement in certain subjects while others have declined. “However, performance in examinations remains a concern, as we believe there is a lack of personal commitment from learners towards their studies,” Education Minister Dr Justin Valentin said.

The results for Primary 6 and IGCSE were presented by Annie Madeleine, while Sharon Larue shared the DELF scolaire results, and Elaine Larue presented the A-Level results. Director general Arnold Chang-Tave outlined the Assessment Division’s structure, plans and initiatives. Principal secretaries Merna Eulentin and John Lesperance were also in attendance.

Mr Chang-Tave reassured the public that all Secondary 1 students do sit for exams according to their capacities. “The IGCSE holds value both locally and internationally, and the ministry is already in discussions with Cambridge to localise the IGCSE. Many countries have already localised their programmes in collaboration with Cambridge. The certificate they receive is endorsed by Cambridge, which gives them access to international opportunities,” he said. Twelve subjects recorded a pass rate above 80%, with two subjects achieving a 100% pass rate.
