Seychelles Inter-Religious Council to Mark World Interfaith Harmony Week February 1-7

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Inter-Religious Council (Sifco) will celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week from February 1 to 7, 2025, under the theme “Harmony between Religions — A Prerequisite for World Peace”. The week of events aims to promote unity, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence between the different religions present in Seychelles.

The week begins on Saturday February 1 with a Symbolic Harmony March, a community initiative promoting solidarity between the different religious communities of the region. The march will start at 9.00 a.m. from the Stade Populaire parking and proceed to the Sacred Heart Chapel, followed by a visit to the Anglican St Phillip’s Chapel, before returning to La Misère. On Monday February 3, Sifco will be featured on the SBC programme Topik Konversasyon Bonzour Sesel, addressing the importance of inter-religious dialogue.

On Wednesday February 5, Sifco will hold a meeting with the Electoral Commission and political parties to call for peaceful elections, urging all parties to approach the upcoming elections with respect for all religions and an unwavering commitment to peace and unity. On Thursday February 6, an inter-religious visit will take place with another religious community, while the week will close on Friday February 7 with a televised inter-religious dialogue where leaders and representatives of various religious communities will discuss religious harmony as a prerequisite for world peace.
