Seychelles Validates National Roadmap and Action Plan for Early Warnings for All by 2027

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles’ National Roadmap and Action Plan for Early Warnings for All, validated during a one-day workshop at the Savoy Resort and Spa yesterday morning, is set to be implemented by 2027.

The plan is part of a global initiative launched in 2022 by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). The workshop brought together entities from the public and private sectors, including the Disaster Risk Management Division (DRMD), the Seychelles Meteorological Authority (SMA), the Seychelles Communication and Regulation Authority (SCRA), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Seychelles Red Cross.

Officials at the workshop said the roadmap is intended to serve as a tool for coordination across all sectors, guiding planning, investment and funding for early warning systems. The full text of the validated document is expected to be published on the DRMD website in the coming weeks, alongside a calendar of stakeholder consultations.
