VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Utilities Regulatory Commission (URC) has announced that the next review of electricity tariffs will be carried out after the first quarter of 2025. The Commission said the review will be based on the performance of the Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) during the period.
In a press release issued yesterday, the URC stated that the review is part of its standard regulatory cycle, which examines PUC’s costs, revenue and overall financial performance to determine whether any adjustments to tariffs are warranted. The Commission noted that the first quarter results will provide a clearer picture of the year’s trajectory.
Electricity tariffs in Seychelles have been a subject of public debate, with consumers and businesses closely watching any changes that may affect their monthly bills. The URC has previously stressed the importance of balancing cost recovery for the PUC with affordability for consumers.
The Commission has committed to publishing its findings and any proposed tariff changes following the review, in line with its mandate to ensure that utility services in Seychelles are provided in a transparent, efficient and financially sustainable manner.
