International School Seychelles Unveils New Uniform as Part of Rebranding

VICTORIA, Seychelles — International School Seychelles (ISS) has announced a new uniform for students from Reception 4 to Year 11 as part of a wider rebranding of the school. The decision to update the uniform is part of a broader initiative to revitalise the school’s identity and create a cohesive look for the student body. Pupils across the school will start wearing the new tops in the coming term.

After extensive research into design, colour, and material, the school selected a high-performance polyester fabric for the new uniform tops. The fabric is in common use for a range of applications due to its distinctive properties, which made it an ideal choice for the Seychelles climate. Distinctive properties include porous, breathable structures made up of interconnected networks of yarns, which provide comfort and breathability and enhance the overall wearing experience.

The material is also known for its moisture-wicking performance, efficiently moving sweat away from the body to the fabric surface, where it evaporates, keeping students dry and comfortable throughout the day. Widely recognised for its versatility, the fabric is popularly used for uniforms, especially in hot climate countries. Its resistance to shrinking and stretching ensures longevity with proper care, making it a durable choice for school uniforms. The open weave, net-like structure of the fabric promotes breathability, allowing air to pass through easily.

The school’s principal, Elodie Vallantine, said the new uniform is more than a change of attire. “As we embrace a new school uniform, let us remember that it is not merely a change in attire, but a symbol of unity, pride, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Together, our uniform becomes the canvas upon which we paint the shared values and aspirations that define our educational community.”

As part of the rebranding initiative, the school is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year. Throughout the year, ISS plans to organise various activities and events to commemorate the milestone, fostering a sense of community and pride among students, staff, parents, and alumni. The uniform launch is the first of those events, and the school said more will be announced in the coming months as the anniversary programme takes shape.
